Allow me to introduce myself, I am Whitney the owner and lead trainer of Central Ohio K9 Academy. We proudly serve the Central Ohio area doing puppy training, board and train, private lessons and structured boarding. 

 

I opened Walks with Whitney, a dog walking business in 2018 and pretty quickly understood why these people were not wanting to walk their own dogs! While some people had jobs that were demanding they be out of their household all day, others worked from home or didn’t work at all and still hired me to do longer walks with their dogs. Some of these dogs were reactive, pulled me down the street and snapped at the leash. On more than one occasion the owners would provide me with special harnesses that would “help the pulling” and more often than not their smart dogs would know just the right trick to escape the harness. My own dog, Mildred was a dog that loved to pull. It made walking my dog and my client’s dogs not fun.

 

After being introduced to the world of balanced training I was able to start learning better ways of walking my dog and other people’s dogs. When you know better, you do better. Seeing the difference I could make in the few dogs I was around made the desire to help more dogs and owners struggling stronger. This is when I made the leap into becoming a trainer. Having a well behaved pup has added so much to my relationship with my own dogs and I love that I can share that same joy with other dog owners!
